How to increase the sharpen on image?
January 23, 2024 Reading time: 2 min

Hello friends, today I will show you one of the most interesting and effective methods to increase the sharpening level of an image. As you well know, there are a multitude of methods to do this in photoshop (such as using the “Sharpen Tool” or “filter > other > High Pass“), some of them being very destructive (if you make a small the mistake, you will have to take it from the beginning).

Without further ado, here are the steps required for my non-destructive method:

1.Open the desired image in photoshop(you can do that :dragging and dropping in photoshop or File>Open> Select the folder and the image> Open)

2.Duplicate the initial picture, 2 times(you can do that : click on the desired picture and then simultaneously press the CTRL+J keys <<Make that twice, for 2 different copies>> or click on the desired image and then right click on the image and select “Duplicate Layer” <<Make that twice, for 2 different copies>>)

3.Select the 2 copies made ,put them in a folder(yo can do that: pressing the Ctrl+G keys simultaneously) and change the blending mode <<from Normal to Overlay or Soft light>>

4.Select the last copy of the invoice (which is in the newly created folder), convert it into a “Smart Object” ( right click on the image and select “Convert to smart Object”), reverse it and change the blending mode from “Normal”, to “Vivid Light”

5.Keeping the same picture (the last copy) selected, click on Filter> Blur> Gaussian Blur (keep the radius value between 0.1px and 3px)

That’s all. Now you can juggle the Gaussian Blur or Opacity values, or you can use a mask and “paint” the areas that require more sharpening.
